How to Withdraw From a Job

Department of Buildings Operation Procedures 3/98, dated May 27, 1998, describes the procedures when a permit holder wants to withdraw from a job. The permit holder must write to the appropriate borough commissioner of the effective date of the permit withdrawal and enclose a copy of the permit or permits. The borough commissioner will send an inspector to the site to issue a stop work order for all work under the permit and notify the owner that the stop work order will remain in effect until a new permit is issued.
